Vintage Japanese Mountain Pavilion Landscape Scroll Painting

This older Japanese scroll painting is quite beautiful with an expansive reach showing depth from near pavilion to distant mountains. It is a typical Sansui painting.

Age and artist are unknown to me. It is likely from 1900-1940. However, age, authenticity, and originality, even by an art expert's judgement, cannot be guaranteed.

It is hand-painted on silk with silk mounting and bone roller-ends. It is quite a long and impressive piece at approx. 22" x 85".

Conditions are very good for older vintage. The painting itself has numerous spots and stains, mostly small, and light in nature. This is a typical condition of many Japanese scroll paintings as they hang in a humid environment. Photos can exaggerate this condition. And please note that lighting position have caused a lighter area to appear in the middle of the painting.

Wrinkling and creasing can rarely be avoided, and this is another common condition of Oriental scroll paintings. This one has very light wrinkling & creasing.

The mounting is in clean and very good condition. There are no serious damages present, only normal and typical wear, though light for its age. This beautiful vintage Japanese scroll painting is therefore very recommended.

This beautiful Japanese scroll painting is listed in my shop, please have a look:
